2017 Captain's Day                                Four Wood Pairs Competition.

Arrangements for this years Captain's day was for an 18 end Four wood Pairs competition (Playing 3 rounds x 6 ends playing against different teams on different rinks).

This was complemented, by having afternoon tea of cucumber sandwiches, Scones with jam & whipped cream followed by Strawberries & cream.

As you will see from the picture below, the Green had been mown & the equipment was laid out ready for the afternoon competition (The Sun shining).

Unfortunately as the first few woods had been played the rain showers started  to arrive, as previously promised by the weather forecasters.

After two Rounds of the competition had been completed in the uncomfortable wet conditions, it was decided to not to play the final round. Jane Pearson & John Hickmott were declared the winners who had tied with Sue Guider & Nigel Pearson on 6 points.

However, on count back Jane & John had scored more shots on their last game than did the other pair making them the final winners.

The afternoon Cream Tea was excellent!
